JOB DESCRIPTION:
AM Batteries is looking for an electromechanical hardware engineer to join our hardware and process R&D team. In this position, you will contribute to the development of next-generation manufacturing hardware and processes. You will spend most of your time in the lab, building, testing, experimenting, and improving designs over which you will have influence and ownership. You will work closely with an experienced team invested in your professional growth, development, and contributions to our product.
Key Responsibilities:
- Design, prototype, and test prototype battery manufacturing components and devices
- Operate and tune existing manufacturing processes with our process and operations teams
- Analyze existing process performance to develop first-principles driven design iterations
- Synthesize electromechanical designs from lab- and prototype-scale observations
- Work closely with colleagues to design, fabricate, implement, and evaluate prototype designs
- Troubleshooting of mechanical and electrical systems
- Maintain scrupulous work records
Required Qualifications:
- Training and work history:
- BS in mechanical engineering, mechatronics, robotics, or a related field
- 0-3 years of industry experience
- A design portfolio (or website) showing off your current and past projects
- Skills:
- Experience with programming (e.g., MATLAB, python, Arduino, Teensy)
- Comfortable and proficient with 3D modeling software
- Familiar with multiple fabrication techniques (e.g., mill, lathe, laser cutter, 3D printer, breadboard, PCB layout)
- Proficiency with basic electronic circuits and feedback control systems
- Excellent reading comprehension and written communication skills
- Work style:
- Self-motivated with a keen attention to detail
- Coachable and appreciative of feedback
- Take your work seriously
- Knock down walls to make things happen
Bonus Skills:
- MS, MEng
- Experience with precision machine design
- Member of project teams
