Head of Carbon Management
CO280 Solutions
About the Role
The CDR market is at a turning point: large companies are beginning to source CDR at-scale for 2030 goals, and global policy is favoring CDR market growth. A critical step towards wider market adoption will depend on high standards for quantifying carbon removal (MRV). CO280 has the ambition to advance MRV and carbon reporting towards clarity and transparency, and your goal will be to set industry leading standards that deliver this.
Your primary objective at CO280 is to help us refine and shape our CDR certification strategy, ensuring a seamless connection between our projects and major carbon market standards. You will develop a comprehensive strategic plan and drive the exploration, coordination, and implementation of measurement, validation, and verification processes, ensuring compliance with industry standards. You will act as the voice of CO280 with important stakeholder groups, building and managing relationships with thought leaders in industry, academia, and government and help shape the future of CDR reporting. You will contribute to strategic initiatives outside of our organization which will help advance the CDR industry. You will work directly with our Chief Commercial Officer to evaluate how our MRV strategy and policy involvement can help us access new markets. You will work cross functionally within our organizations with Engineering, Project Development, Marketing, Legal and Finance. You will work closely with our project engineering team to create an MRV plan for our first project that can be replicated across future projects as we scale. Ideally, you have expertise in carbon markets, carbon accounting, and ESG and are passionate about climate. You are hopeful, solutions-oriented and want to join a team that believes that our solutions can change the world!
About the Company
CO280 is a leading developer of large-scale carbon removal projects that will remove more than 10 megatons of carbon per year from the atmosphere. We are achieving this by partnering with pulp and paper companies to capture biogenic CO2 from pulp mills and store it permanently in geologic formations. Our projects deliver a new standard of permanent, large-scale carbon dioxide removal at the highest quality and lowest cost compared to other permanent CDR. We currently have more than a dozen projects in development with pulp and paper partners in the Gulf Coast and Alberta, Canada.
We are simultaneously addressing a critical supply gap in the CDR marketplace where we are selling our credits to Fortune 100 customers in the voluntary carbon market. To support project execution and scale- up, we have created a powerful and growing network of partners including JP Morgan, MRV with Microsoft, SLB Capturi and others. We have assembled an extraordinary team, and we’re backed by some of the leading equity funds in energy transition. We are well-capitalized and are scaling up our team to achieve the next stage of growth.
