ION is actively seeking a dedicated Quality Control Technician to join our cutting-edge solid-state lithium battery manufacturing lab. As a crucial member of our team, you will play an integral role in ensuring the quality and consistency of raw materials and in-process components for our production line. The ideal candidate will have a foundational understanding of quality control techniques, demonstrate technical skills, and be eager to learn and grow in a dynamic, fast-paced environment. Reporting to the QC Manager, this role requires excellent attention to detail, strong communication skills, and the ability to work collaboratively across departments. Responsibilities:
Perform Incoming Quality Control IQC inspections on raw materials, components, and assemblies, ensuring they meet standards and documenting deviations.
Conduct In-Process Quality Control IPQC checks to monitor and verify production processes.
Assist with Outgoing Quality Control OQC inspections to ensure finished products meet quality requirements.
Operate measurement and inspection tools, including optical CMM, micrometers, calipers, and battery testing equipment.
Document and report quality findings accurately, maintaining detailed inspection records.
Analyze test results to identify defects and non-conformance with ION's specifications.
Collaborate with other departments for sample scheduling, equipment utilization, and testing methods.
Support instrument maintenance as needed.
Aid in material management and the release of materials.
Support evaluations of new products, materials, and processes.
Collaborate with production and engineering teams to address quality issues and implement corrective actions.
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work environment, adhering to all laboratory safety protocols.
Work under the direct supervision of the Quality Control Lab Manager.
Flexibility to work overtime as needed.
Required Education and Experience:
Associate's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent technical training.
1-2 years of experience in quality control, preferably in a manufacturing environment.
Practical experience with inspection techniques, including visual inspection, functional testing, and dimensional measurements using tools such as optical CMM, micrometers, calipers, and battery testing equipment.
Foundational understanding of quality control principles and technical skills.
Preferred Education and Experience:
Bachelor's degree in Chemistry, Materials Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Experience in battery manufacturing or a similar environment.
Familiarity with analytical instrumentation and techniques used in battery production and inspection.
Ability to read technical drawings, diagrams, and documents.
Certification in CMM, 3D measuring systems, or experience in a chemistry lab.
Electro-mechanical aptitude.
Required Skills:
Excellent oral and written communication skills.
Basic data-analysis, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills.
Excellent organizational and time management skills.
Basic understanding of hand tool gauges and manual measuring techniques.
Demonstrated attention to detail and reliability.
Ability to use MS Office, including Word and Excel.
Proven ability to meet deadlines and work under aggressive timelines.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment.
Ability to lift up to 50 lbs preferred.
Use of personal protection equipment PPE such as safety glasses, gloves, and lab coats is required.
