Located in Northern California, the team at Joby Aviation is driven by our goal of creating an affordable, all-electric air transportation system. Imagine a piloted air taxi that takes off vertically, then quietly carries you and your fellow passengers over the congested city streets below, enabling you to spend more time with the people and places that matter most. Since 2009, our team has worked steadily to make this dream a reality. We’ve designed and tested many generations of prototype aircraft capable of serving in a network of electric air taxis. We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onwards toward certifying the Joby aircraft with the Federal Aviation Administration, scaling our manufacturing, and preparing to launch commercial service in 2025.

We are looking for a motivated intern to join one of our software development teams to help us build a revolutionary, cost effective, and clean global transportation system to fulfill our mission of saving a billion people an hour a day. It will be an in-person internship based in Santa Cruz CA. Relocation assistance and housing will not be provided.

Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join one of the following Software Development Teams.

• RTOS Software Development (OOP C++)
• Software Verification
• Data Applications, Data Science (UX and full stack)
• Software Automation (Python)
• FPGA Development and FPGA Verification (UVM)

During this internship, you will be embedded within a small team of development engineers and designers who will contribute directly to designing, coding, testing, and building on and off aircraft applications used by engineers and other teams across the company.

The ideal candidate is energetic, has a positive attitude, is flexible and excited about learning. Expect an internship that is similar to a job you would have when you graduate. The range of experiences will be wide, and you will not be bored. The level of responsibilities will depend on your independence and your ability to complete tasks on the specific team you will be joining.

The Software Verification Intern role requires:

• Currently pursuing a Bachelor's, Master's, or PhD degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field and having completed the 3rd year of a Bachelor's or higher
• Experience with Python
• Familiarity with C++
• Experience with Continuous Integration, Continuous Development (CI/CD) and DevOps tools
• Experience designing and implementing test strategies to assess the reliability of automation frameworks and libraries

• Positive attitude and self-motivated work ethic
• Willingness to be flexible and learn new technologies
• Ability to work effectively as a team member in a geographically distributed team
• Ability to work closely with the software development team, and teams in other domains, gathering requirements and feedback
• Experience working with containerization technologies; docker experience preferred

The target compensation for these positions is $25.00-$33.25 depending on the level of completed education. The pay range for graduate interns with a Bachelor, Master, and/or Ph.D. degree is $5,880-$8,200/month.
