We’re looking for talented, committed individuals to join our team as we push onward toward certifying the Joby aircraft, scaling our manufacturing, and launching our initial commercial service.

Overview

As a Senior Configuration Specialist, you are responsible to maintain the integrity of the aircraft configuration, and demonstrate compliance to a variety of FAA rules, guidance documents, and industry standards.

You will also contribute to generating business requirements and standard operating procedures as Joby transitions from building a small number of prototype aircraft to manufacturing many FAA conformed aircraft.

In this role, you will be working with multiple teams, such as Engineering, Planning, Manufacturing and Quality, to ensure the integrity of engineering data from release to production. The ideal candidate will possess the ability to work with minimal supervision and as part of a team in a fast-paced dynamic environment.

Note that this role is located in Northern California, remote is not available.

Responsibilities

  • Draft business requirements and standard operating procedures to meet those requirements
  • Support the review and release of engineering data
  • Maintain the Bill of Materials (BOM) and aircraft effectivity within Enovia
  • Create and maintain both the Aircraft Top Level Drawing and 3D model (digital mock-up)
  • Improve processes to support business needs and meet regulatory requirements
  • Ensure the problem reporting and change control processes are properly executed
  • Coordinate and run change control boards
  • Develop and conduct Configuration Management trainings
  • Work closely with the broader engineering teams and ensure consistent execution of configuration control processes across the company

Required

  • BS in Engineering or Science degree, and 5+ years of relevant experience, or an advanced degree and 3+ years of experience with Configuration Management
  • Strong interpersonal and communication skills, including writing skills
  • Proactive attitude with the ability to manage multiple assignments
  • Excellent problem-solving skills
  • Consistent work ethic and goal-focused approach
  • Experience with 3DExperience (Enovia), Jira, Confluence, SharePoint and MS Office
  • Aerospace, automotive, or other large-format industry experience

Desired

  • Direct experience with design, build, test, manufacture development cycles
  • Experience with managing change control process and running change control boards
  • Hands-on design experience
  • Practitioner-level knowledge of DO-178C (related to configuration control), familiarity with FAA regulations
  • Experience with Dassault 3DExperience modeling (Catia)
  • Aircraft certification program experience

Additional Information

Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $89,900 - $157,400/year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
