Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a highly organized, passionate individual to join our powertrain and electronics engineering team in San Carlos. As part of this team, you will contribute to the testing and certification of the off-aircraft charging and thermal conditioning equipment that supports our VTOL electric aircraft. The Joby Aviation team is made up of extremely talented, hardworking, proactive, and hands-on individuals, operating in a very fast-paced and rewarding environment. We are looking to expand this team with individuals looking to make a mark in the transportation industry.
Responsibilities
- Development and Certification testing of Joby ground support equipment
- Plan and execute test campaigns for:
- Electrical safety (IEC, UL, and others)
- Materials compliance (RoHS and others)
- EMI/EMC compliance (FCC and others)
- In-house test setup development
- Domestic and international travel to support testing or field listing
- Negotiation of means of compliance with notified bodies, test labs and authorities-having-jurisdiction
- Development of fixtures or test apparatus
- Closing the loop on failures or design issues with the development and procurement teams
- Troubleshooting/debugging of electrical and mechanical test setups
- Regulatory body work including standards development
- Optimize the design and architecture of future Joby products to enhance the efficiency of the regulatory process.
Required
- Strong fundamentals in electrical and mechanical engineering
- Experience testing electronics hardware to IEC and/or UL standards
- Experience with root cause analysis (nondestructive) of electronics failure
- Bachelor’s degree or higher with 5+ years of experience in a relevant field
Desired
- Experience as a contributing member of a standards body committee
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $125,100-$166,800/yr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
