Overview

We are seeking a motivated individual to join our team as a Composite Tool Maintenance Technician. In this role, you will play a crucial role in reconditioning, priming, sealing, and executing maintenance on composite and metallic tooling for production use. A strong attention to detail, importance of following instructions, and team work required. Joby Aviation is dedicated to training and developing individuals with potential, and we are looking for apprentices who are eager to learn and grow within our company.

Shift Schedules below:

1st shift - Monday – Thursday: 7AM- 5:30PM
2nd shift- Monday - Thursday: 5:30PM - 4:00AM
3rd shift -Friday - Sunday: 6AM - 6:30PM

Responsibilities

  • Ensuring proper application of primer and sealer agents to prep and recondition tools for production use
  • Ensure tools are maintained to cure cycle reconditioning standards, and safely perform minor repair work on composite and metallic tooling to meet surface finishing standards
  • Diagnose common tooling defects and subsequent repair methods.
  • Adherence to standardized work instruction and technical requirements
  • Collaborate with Tooling team on design changes, process improvements, and modifications.
  • Meet demand of scheduled reconditioning tools to ensure smooth production.

Required

  • HS Diploma or GED Equivalent
  • Experience working in fast-paced, time sensitive environments
  • Demonstrated abilities following standardized work instructions, technical requirements, and executing standard processes.
  • Basic computer skills for documentation and record-keeping purposes.
  • Continuous standing, squatting, bending, pulling, twisting, and lifting throughout the workday.
  • Lifting of 50 lbs. or less
  • Must wear PPE when required.
  • Have no known allergies to epoxies or other composites materials and able to become certified to wear a respirator.
  • Must be able to walk or stand for extended periods.
  • Must be able to stoop, bend, crawl, and being able to maneuver in tight spaces
  • Ability to become forklift, crane, or equipment certified
  • Strive to continually improve quality, 5S, and productivity within areas of responsibility, knowledge, skills and experience. Demonstration through participation of FMDS, shop cleanings, internal audits, etc.

Desired

  • 1+ year of manufacturing experience
  • Experience working in a regulated manufacturing environment
  • Experience in a high-volume production environment that relies on a well-defined process to achieve maximum efficiency.
  • Familiarity with lean manufacturing or 5S environments.

The target base pay for this position is $18-$32/hr. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
