Overview
Joby Aviation is seeking a skilled manufacturing engineer to join our vehicle integration manufacturing engineering team. The individual will support the assembly and installation of vehicle electrical and mechanical systems at our Marina, CA facility. This position is exciting and rewarding, as the engineer will promptly see their ideas grow from concept to creation due to the fast pace of Joby Aviation.
Responsibilities
• Support manufacturing process development, implementation, and continuous improvement under the guidance of senior team members.
• Identify safety issues on the manufacturing floor and assist in driving timely resolution with the appropriate teams.
• Assist with production planning and coordination, capacity planning, line design, production execution, and operations process development.
• Provide day-to-day production support to technicians and leads, helping remove blockers and escalate issues as needed.
• Support the creation and review of manufacturing work instructions to ensure compliance with design requirements and company processes.
• Participate in the review and release of engineering definition, providing manufacturing feedback as needed.
• Support the design and implementation of shop aids and tooling to assist production.
• Assist with the disposition of non-conforming parts, root cause investigations, and corrective and/or preventive actions to reduce scrap and rework.
• Collaborate with Design Engineering during prototype, development, and first article manufacturing to support quality and manufacturability improvements.
Required
• B.S. in Engineering, or 8+ years of directly relevant hands-on experience in a production environment in lieu of a degree.
• Proficiency in at least one CAD system.
• Excellent problem solving and teamwork skills while working with cross functional teams.
• Familiar with common drafting practices.
Desired
• Experience with prototype manufacturing in a professional environment.
• Experience working in a FAA certified production line.
• Experience with drawings and BOMs, Manufacturing Execution Systems, Engineering Change systems, and Quality systems.
• Hands on electrical or mechanical experience.
• Familiarity with GD&T.
Additional Information
Compensation at Joby is a combination of base pay and Restricted Stock Units (RSUs). The target base pay for this position is $70,304 - $108,200 per year. The compensation package will be determined by job-related knowledge, skills, and experience.
