About River :

River is an electric vehicle company building multi-utility scooters. At River, we’re building scooters of tomorrow for the ambitious youth of today. Because we believe people only need two things to achieve success: the desire to make it to the top, and the means to get there.

With our flagship product River Indie, SUV of Scooters, is designed to help you get things done. Engineered to be a dependable ally on your road to success. We are backed by marquee international investors - these are mobility focused funds backed by Yamaha Motors, Al-Futtaim Automotive Group, Toyota VC and Maniv Mobility.

Key Responsibilities :

Mechanical Design & Packaging :

  • Design and develop robust and lightweight plastic enclosures for PCB components, including Display unit, vehicle control boards, and connectors.
  • Optimize designs for manufacturability (DFM) using injection molding processes, considering factors like tooling, material selection, and cycletime.
  • Design and implement effective thermal management solutions for electronic components.
  • Develop secure and reliable mounting and packaging solutions for electronic components within the Display enclosure, ensuring protection from vibration, shock, and environmental factors.
  • Collaborate with electrical engineers to define interface requirements for connectors, wiring harnesses, and other electrical components.
  • Perform mechanical simulations and analyses (e.g., FEA) to validate designs for structural integrity, thermal performance, and durability.
  • Create detailed 2D and 3D CAD models and drawings for manufacturing and assembly.

Testing and Validation :

  • Develop and execute mechanical validation plans, including component-level testing, thermal testing, and structural analysis. This may include working with external test houses. Perform tolerance analysis and stack-up studies to ensure proper fit and function of assembled components.
  • Document test results, design iterations, and performance analysis.
  • Debug and resolve mechanical issues related to design, manufacturing, and assembly.

Ideal Candidate :

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
  • Candidates passed out from NTTF/GTTC or similar organizations are preferred.
  • 5 to 10 years of experience in mechanical design and packaging of electronic components, preferably within the automotive industry, with a focus on plastic casings and electronics packaging.
  • Proven track record of designing and developing robust, manufacturable, and thermally managed enclosures for electronic systems. Experience with battery systems is an advantage.
  • Proficiency in 3D CAD software (e.g., SolidWorks, CATIA) and 2D drafting.
  • Strong understanding of plastic injection molding processes, tooling design, and material selection.
  • Experience with thermal management techniques, thermal interface materials.
  • Familiarity with GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) and tolerance analysis. Hands-on experience with prototyping methods and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience with automotive design standards and requirements is an advantage.
