About Role

We are looking for a Senior Durability Engineer for the Mechanical Validation Team with 4 - 8 years of OEM experience. The position requires in-depth knowledge and experience in design of experiments and durability testing of mechanical components and vehicles (2 wheelers).

This role requires strong communication, in addition to being comfortable with working independently through ambiguities under minimal guidance and acting as a resource for colleagues.

Key Responsibilities

  • Familiar with the durability test methodologies
  • Determine the durability requirements of components and systems to achieve company targets
  • Recommend experiment designs or test methods
  • Requires extensive experience in testing of components, performing statistical analysis of the experimental data, and presenting status updates and reports
  • Recommend new design fixtures and follow up with suppliers to secure the test setup within the deadlines
  • Good knowledge of instruments like strain gauges, accelerometers, LVDTs, Force Sensors, Pressure Sensors, Flow Sensors, etc.
  • Develop standard methods, training and methodologies and ensure implementation within organization for competence development, share lessons learnt and develop best practice guidelines
  • Participate in the product design process to understand product features, functions and life cycle events to plan for the life assessment along with FMEA knowledge
  • Perform FMEA with the design team to help and create a robust design
  • Hands-on experience in damage prediction using tools like NCode
  • Hands on experience in vibration analysis - data collection, data processing, test profile generation - sine, random, shock, etc.
  • Experience in conducting RLDA (Road Load Data Acquisition)
  • Identification, evaluation and prioritization of risks in early project stage/phase
  • Lead failure analysis efforts of test and field failures for root cause identification

Ideal Candidate

  • Degree or similar qualification in mechanical engineering or a related subject
  • Test data processing skills
  • Damage calculation and test cycle generation
  • Vibration data analysis and test profile generation
  • Hands-on experience in Durability testing of 2 wheeler components and complete vehicles
  • Experience in FMEA
  • Able to communicate effectively, work flexibility in a multi-disciplinary team and on own initiative
  • Act as a resource for colleagues with less experience
  • Collaboration with cross functional teams in the interest of the product and company goals
  • Solve complex problems ; takes a new perspective on existing solutions; exercises judgment based on the analysis of multiple sources of information
