Description

Reusable systems are the key to seamlessly connecting Earth and space. Highly efficient and extremely reliable rocket engines will make these reusable delivery systems a reality. As a Precision Assembly Engine Technician, you will be responsible for the precise and rapid building of our Stage 2 engine and its sub-assemblies for space vehicles.

Our second stage engine is unlike any other in the space industry. This unique design requires individuals to be well versed in a variety of manufacturing processes to be successful in this role. Leveraging your previous experience, you will build and assemble alongside engineers and independently; all while giving design feedback and logging accurate build notes for future reference. You will use your resourcefulness and communication skills to identify and solve issues with the assistance of machinists, welders, and engineers. You will be responsible for maintaining an efficient work area, including ownership of its layout, tooling, and local inventory storage. You must be ready to stay focused, move fast, self-direct, and learn on the fly.

Responsibilities

  • Precision assembly of Rocket Engines hardware, directed by both written and verbal instructions
  • Assembly of complex engine assemblies to work orders, drawings, CAD models and verbal instructions
  • Build planning, inventory kit organization, shortage identification, ordering of common stock items
  • Precision cleaning of hardware
  • Work area ownership, functional layout, daily maintenance and general cleaning
  • Identification of discrepancies, authoring of nonconformance reports, coordination with engineering on dispositions, detailed documentation of steps
  • Following of work orders for component builds; documentation of build steps for both new and re-occurring assembly sequences

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of experience in mechanical or manufacturing environments
  • 2+ years of experience in precision assembly of complex engine systems or similar hardware
  • Detailed understanding of GTAW and laser welding processes and procedures
  • Detailed understanding of fittings, threads, inserts, seals, and other sub-component parts
  • Assembly experience with Oxygen, Cryogenic, and FOD intolerant service components and systems
  • Familiar with operating pressurized systems and proof testing flight hardware
  • Proficient in working with delicate and high-value assemblies
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills
  • Ability to work second shift and weekends as needed
  • Able to lift up to 40 lbs. unassisted
  • Able to stand for extended periods
  • Able to stoop, bend, crawl, and maneuver in tight spaces
  • Valid driver’s license

Compensation

Target Levels:

  • Level 2 range: $31 - $47/hour
  • Level 3 range: $38 - $57/hour
