About us

Vow is a food company - a very different one. We’re creating real meat products from animal cells instead of the animal itself.

We’re bringing together cutting edge innovations in science, engineering, culinary and design to make sustainable food that’s both irresistible and available to billions of people worldwide.

Vow is about to launch our first brand and product to market in Singapore. Our first brand, called Forged, will be sold exclusively through restaurants in the premium dining segment. All products under the Forged brand will be known for being deliberately different, they are intentionally unlike any other meat product you would have tasted before.

The role:

As Vow’s first ever sales hire and our first hire in Singapore, you’ll be tasked with leading our sales and business development efforts in Singapore. You’ll take responsibility for signing on all new partners in this market and will be our distributor’s main point of contact in Singapore. You’ll work closely with them to create a sales strategy and partner target list, schedule in and attend sales meetings with chefs, and manage relationships with existing customers. We’ll lean on you to provide the distributor's sales team with everything they need to do their job the best way possible, ranging from training sessions, to sales and marketing materials, and constant encouragement and collaboration. You’ll also work closely with our Marketing and Product teams in Sydney to ensure you have everything you need to deliver on your objectives. As our only on the ground team member in Singapore, you’ll play an instrumental part in sharing all on-the-ground learnings back with the Sydney team. These learnings, such as consumer insights and chef feedback, will immediately influence business decisions (e.g. giving direction to product development).

We believe that being passionate about the product you’re pitching is the most effective sales tactic, so we’re looking for someone who is similarly obsessed with the idea of creating better meat products for meat lovers. While strategy and planning work will be part of this role, we expect that four out of five days will be spent on the road taking meetings with chefs and restaurateurs. Vow is on a mission to feed billions and Singapore will be our first important step in achieving this mission. We have high and ambitious targets, and we want the Singapore market to take off like wildfire, with you leading the charge.

The experience/skills you will bring:

  • 5+ years experience in sales, of which at least 2 years in premium food products in Singapore. As such, you’ll feel comfortable navigating the fine-dining scene in Singapore and opening new doors.
  • 1+ year experience in working closely with a food distributor to support their sales team
  • Charisma and eloquence required to effectively pitch not just a new product, but an entirely new category of food.
  • Strong interpersonal skills to establish and maintain relationships with rockstar chefs and decision-makers in top restaurants.
  • Strategic thinking to adapt sales strategies and execution based on feedback from chefs, market dynamics, or changes in company-, product development- or brand strategy.
  • Creativity and proactiveness to come up with out-of-the-box solutions to hit sales targets or proactively solve for potential risks
  • Strong communication skills to effectively manage all on-the-ground stakeholders and regularly update senior management in Sydney on all progress and learnings.

You will:

  • Start by working closely with the Go-To-Market team during our launch activities in Singapore to soak in all there is to know about our company, brand and product.
  • Spend time with our distributor’s management team to collaboratively create a sales approach consisting of clear targets, a partner target list, sales tactics and responsibilities.
  • Upskill our distributor's sales team by organizing training sessions, providing needed materials and taking sales meetings together.
  • Schedule in and take sales meetings with prospective and existing restaurant partners. You’ll spend roughly four days per week on the road.
  • Have frequent check-ins with the marketing and product development teams in Sydney to update on progress, share learnings, recommend improvement to strategies and make sure you receive the support needed to achieve your objectives.
  • Be involved in future product launches, both of new products in Singapore as well as new markets. For Singapore, this means co-designing launch activations and signing the right partners. For other markets, this will involve onboarding new members of the sales team.

What success looks like:

Within 3 months, you will:

  • Have made the Forged brand and product story your own and feel comfortable pitching it to chefs.
  • Created a sales plan with our distributor and feel confident it will allow us to achieve our commercial goals.
  • Have provided the distributor’s sales team with everything they need to effectively sell our product.
  • Have made your first few sales by having signed a handful of restaurant contracts and continued to support and maintain those relationships.
  • Have provided weekly summaries of feedback received from prospective partners & weekly reports of leads generated, conversations had, contracts signed.

Towards the end of 2024:

  • Have been working with a few priority restaurants to successfully launch and promote a second and third Forged product.
  • Established a smooth and effective sales operation in Singapore that is on track to achieve our end-of-year commercial goals.
  • Have supported product launches and the building of commercial teams in at least one other market in the APAC region.

Who we are and why join:

  • We are building a diverse, mission-led dream team of “Vowzers.” Our mission is to make food products for everyone. To do that well we need a workforce that’s representative of the people we serve. We celebrate multiple approaches and points of view - so we’re building a culture to match. Be yourself and come as you are.
  • Work on cutting-edge technology. We’re bringing together cutting-edge innovations in science, engineering, and food, to recreate the world’s most tantalising and unique culinary experiences. All without compromising on ethics or our planet along the way. Since our inception in 2019, we have held the title of being the first startup to cultivate meat from the cells of an undomesticated animal, and have served up our exotic meats ranging from kangaroo dumplings to alpaca sliders in tastings with world-renowned chefs.
  • Work with and learn from the best. Our team includes some of the world’s top scientists, innovators, operators, and creatives with decades of industry experience. Despite our experiences though, we all strive to build, break, learn, and repeat. We see the impossible as temporary and strive to learn and support our company and fellow Vowzers' growth as much as possible.
  • We’re fully funded and ready to go. We are a growing Aussie biotech start-up backed by Blackbird Ventures, Square Peg Capital, Grok Ventures, Tenacious Ventures, P7 Ventures, Toyota Ventures, and PeakBridge VC.
