About us

Vow is a food company - a very different one. We’re creating real meat products from animal cells instead of the animal itself.

We’re bringing together cutting edge innovations in science, engineering, culinary and design to make sustainable food that’s both irresistible and available to billions of people worldwide.

The role

We are looking for a Research Technician to join our Process Development team at Vow on a short-term contract, starting ASAP.

The Process Development team is responsible for designing, testing, and validating cell culture processes at benchtop scale prior to factory scale-up. This role will be 100% lab-based, focused on supporting the team run cell culture experiments & validation in benchtop systems (predominately shake flasks and 2L benchtop bioreactors). This opportunity is well suited to someone with hands-on cell culture experience who enjoys practical lab work, learns quickly, has high attention to detail, and thrives in a fast-paced environment.

The experience you bring

  • A Bachelor's degree in a relevant discipline

  • ~1 year of relevant hands-on lab experience working with cell culture. This can have been gained through internships, an Honours year or work experience

  • Proficiency in standard laboratory practices and equipment, particularly aseptic technique and general lab skills (e.g., weighing, pipetting)

  • Proven ability to learn quickly and work effectively in a fast paced, collaborative environment

  • Ability to work autonomously with high ownership

You will

  • Set up and maintain mammalian cell cultures in shake flasks and benchtop bioreactors

  • Perform routine sampling, feeding, and culture monitoring

  • Prepare media, buffers, and feeds

  • Support basic experimental troubleshooting under guidance from the team

  • Carry out foundational laboratory tasks, such as cleaning, equipment upkeep, and general lab maintenance

  • Work closely with scientists and engineers in Process Development to support broader company goals

What success looks like

  • By your first month, you will have successfully upskilled in all lab operation activities, with the ability to run tasks efficiently & independently
