Using lessons we've learned at places like SpaceX and Blue Origin, Xona is constructing a modern satellite network at the rapid pace of the new space industry leveraging the recent wave of technology and regulatory advancements. Building on our patent pending small satellite architecture, we are developing a robust and accurate service that is an independent alternative to GNSS rather than a correction, solving the longstanding challenge of obtaining a reliable high accuracy solution from the very fragile GNSS signals. Our satellite system will provide the first ever high-accuracy global navigation and timing services with the security and resilience modern applications need to operate safely at scale.

In this role you will design and develop a cloud architecture in partnership with the cloud service provider(s) and on-prem architecture to support Xonas Mission critical operations. You will design and deploy Cyber security solutions for both cloud and On-Prem environment with partnership with Xonas Cybersecurity Architect and cloud service provider to comply with the Xonas adopted cybersecurity framework. Be responsible for the Mission critical systems hosted on commercial cloud platform(s) as well as on-prem environment and infrastructure: managing servers, storage, network, etc. You will maintain and continuously improve the environment and infrastructure with new and innovative products and services. You will work to support development of design review documents and system requirements. Generate design documents, best practice configurations, and test procedures. Configure and troubleshoot cloud, virtual, and physical infrastructure. Lastly you will proactively identify and resolve operational, tooling and process inefficiencies

Required Qualifications:

• Bachelors, Masters, or PhD in Computer Science, Physics, Engineering or Math or related field; or equivalent professional experience.
• 4-5 years of demonstrated hands-on experiencing in designing and configuring secure and scalable real-time cloud platforms on AWS
• In-depth understanding of cloud design patterns, cloud native architecture and principles, cloud operations and cloud security models
• Excellent knowledge of cloud services: application integration, functions, cloud databases, scalable containers, load balancers, data warehouse and analytics, developer tools, security, and identity management
• Proven and demonstrable experience in architecting, designing, and implementing real time, high availability cloud applications with a very high degree of automation
• Strong programming skills with experience in Python, C++ and Shell Scripting languages.
• Experience in the space domain in one or more areas: mission control center, spacecraft operations center, mission data processing and distribution, etc.
• Experience with cloud base configuration management tools
• Experience with NIST Cybersecurity framework
• AWS Cloud certification preferred

Xona makes offers based on geo-located salary bands using a compensation tool. We are required by law to include a reasonable estimate of the compensation range for this role. This compensation range is specific to Burlingame, California and takes into account the wide range of factors that are considered in making compensation decisions including but not limited to skill sets, experience, interview performance and training. It is not typical for an individual to be hired at or near the top of the range for their role and comp, Xona expects to hire for this position near the middle of the range. Only in truly rare and exceptional circumstances, where an external candidate has experience, credentials, or expertise that far exceed those required or expected for the position, would Xona consider paying a salary or rate near the higher end of the range.
