Xona is launching a network of navigation satellites to enable precision technologies like robotic farming and hands-free driving to globally scale. More and more industries are moving towards automation to enhance efficiency and reduce costs. In order to operate safely these technologies need far higher precision and reliability than GPS can provide, and they need it to be accessible and affordable. Xona’s patented PULSAR network takes all the complexity needed to achieve robust centimeter-level accuracy and moves it to the satellites, unlocking trusted precision guidance for even consumer grade devices, anywhere on Earth.
What you’ll be doing:
As our Director of Marketing, you'll take ownership of a broad category of marketing, communications and branding objectives. You’ll be joining our leadership team as the first marketing hire, so get ready to roll up your sleeves and personally execute new channel experiments, field marketing, demand gen and ABM when you join. We’re looking for someone who is analytical, data-driven and highly creative. The ideal candidate is a natural storyteller and diligent project manager who is comfortable operating at the tempo of a modern startup. Key responsibilities will include:
- Roll up your sleeves as a generalist IC. Switch between demand gen, digital marketing, PR coordination, web development and content creation, and everything in-between (we don’t expect you to ‘spike’ in all these areas, but know where to bring in help as needed).
- Communicate the company's vision and mission, translating complex technology concepts into a compelling narrative.
- Own media relations and the public image of the company, serving as the intermediary between the public and the company's executive team.
- Be responsible for generating new ideas for channels and content creation to enhance Xona’s brand, aggressively testing your theories, and scaling winners while cutting losers.
- Stay up to date on market trends and what would capture user attention to drive Xona’s brand presence and positioning as a leader in our market.
- Experience as a first marketing hire / building a team in a dynamic environment.
- 3+ years of experience in a B2B marketing role, especially in the tech or deep tech sectors, with a proven ability to generate demand, nurture leads, and build brand authority.
- Strong experience developing messaging that resonates with business buyers, especially technical and non-technical stakeholders within organizations. You should know how to speak to C-level executives, product managers, engineers, and procurement teams.
- Ability to partner closely with sales, product, people, and engineering teams.
- Track record of experimentation – generating new ideas, tracking metrics, quickly shutting down ineffective ones.
- Proficiency with modern communication tools and digital marketing technologies.
- Knowledge of current trends and best practices in marketing & branding, especially in the context of deep tech startups and the unique dynamics of the B2B buying process, including longer sales cycles, multi-touch attribution, and customer lifetime value.
