Opportunity

We seek a highly motivated and detail-oriented Quality Engineer to join our team in Mississauga, ON. This role is responsible for ensuring the highest quality standards in manufacturing processes, supplier interactions, and overall product integrity. The Quality Engineer will drive continuous improvement, maintain compliance with industry standards, and foster a culture of quality excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead root cause analysis and implement corrective actions for quality issues using structured problem-solving methodologies (e.g., 8D, 5-Why, Ishikawa).
  • Conduct supplier visits for audits, quality assurance monitoring, and process improvement initiatives.
  • Develop, implement, and maintain in-house quality processes, procedures, and documentation to meet industry and company standards.
  • Manage and maintain Production Part Approval Process (PPAP) and Advanced Product Quality Planning (APQP) documentation, including process flow charts, Process Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (PFMEA), and control plans.
  • Ensure proper calibration, maintenance, and validation of measurement devices, taking full ownership of quality measurement tools.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, production, and supply chain, to improve product quality and reduce defects.
  • Conduct internal and external audits, ensuring adherence to regulatory and customer-specific quality requirements.
  • Work with manufacturing teams to identify and implement process improvements that enhance efficiency and quality.
  • Develop training programs for production staff on quality control procedures, defect prevention, and problem-solving techniques.
  • Participate in new product development and launch activities to ensure quality is built into designs from the initial stages.
  • Utilize statistical process control (SPC) and data analysis techniques to monitor product quality and identify trends or areas for improvement.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, or Manufacturing Engineering.
  • Experience in the automotive manufacturing industry (mandatory).
  • 3-10 years of experience in quality engineering or supplier quality management roles
  • Experience in manufacturing engineering and process improvement methodologies.
  • Certifications: Quality training such as Six Sigma (Green or Black Belt), ASQ Certified Quality Engineer (CQE), or Lean Manufacturing is a strong asset.
  • Proven experience with APQP, PPAP, PFMEA, control plans, and other core quality tools.

Key Skills

  • Proficiency in supplier quality management, audits, and corrective action processes.
  • Hands-on experience with quality control tools, measurement devices, and calibration techniques.
  • Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams, suppliers, and customers.
  • Ability to document and maintain detailed quality assurance records in compliance with industry standards.
  • Highly proficient in Microsoft Excel, PowerPoint, and quality-related software tools.
  • Knowledge of statistical process control (SPC), failure analysis techniques, and data-driven decision-making.
  • Ability to lead and influence teams to achieve quality improvement goals.
  • Proficiency in the MS suite of Products, primarily Excel and MS Project
