Senior Photogrammetrist / Image Processing Engineer
Near Space Labs
At Near Space Labs we design, build and operate a fleet of stratospheric robots to image the earth. We launch our proprietary, balloon-based imaging robots to heights between 40,000 and 60,000 feet. From this vantage point, we capture petabytes of imagery for a variety of use cases.
We are looking for a self-motivated Senior Photogrammetrist / Image Processing Engineer with experience in the Earth Observation or Geospatial industry to develop, refine, and implement advanced photogrammetric and image processing techniques in our data pipeline. You will collaborate with our cross-functional software and data teams to enhance existing products and contribute to the development of innovative geospatial solutions.
Your responsibilities will be

Develop, enhance, and implement bundle adjustment algorithms to improve geospatial data accuracy.
- Build orthorectification and mosaicking processes and pipelines.

Collaborate with software engineers to integrate algorithms into production systems.

Contribute to new sensor design and support camera calibration tests, working closely with our Flight Vehicle Engineering unit and payload engineers.

Implement algorithms for Image Correction with RGB and multispectral sensors, including color correction, geometric correction and radiometry when needed.

Improve georeferencing processes and experiment with different approaches.
- Provide technical expertise and guidance to internal teams on geospatial data processing.
Location
This is a position for EU nationals or work permit holders based in Barcelona. You can work from home or the office as needed.
Your Skills
- 10+ years of experience.
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Photogrammetry, Remote Sensing, Geomatics, Computer Science, or a related field.
- Strong expertise in bundle adjustment techniques and photogrammetric processing.
- Deep understanding of Remote Sensing and Earth Observation data collection and processing techniques.
- Proficient in Python.
- Knowledge of GDAL and geospatial Python libraries (Shapely, rasterio..)
- Familiarity with aerial imagery analysis, and geospatial data handling.
- Familiarity with imagery processing libraries such as OpenCV.
- Experience working in a professional software development environment.
- Familiarity with cloud-based imagery or data pipelines.
